Active and Passive Voice (Softskill 2)

Active Voice (kalimat aktif) ialah kalimat yang subyeknya sedang melakukan suatu pekerjaan. Atau kejadiannya terjadi secara langsung. Kalimat yang subjeknya dikenai suatu pekerjaan. Atau kejadiannya terjadi secara tidak langsung. Lebih sering digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dibandingkan dengan passive voice.

Passive Voice (kalimat pasif) ialah kalimat dimana subject-nya dikenai pekerjaan oleh object kalimat. Dapat ditemukan passive voice di surat-surat kabar, artikel-artikel di majalah-majalah dan tulisan-tulisan ilmiah. Passive voice digunakan karena object dari active voice merupakan informasi yang lebih penting dibandingkan dengan subject-nya.

1. Present Simple Tense
Active Voice : She drives the car
Pattern : S + V1 + O
Passive Voice : The car is driven by her
Pattern : S + to be (am, is, are) + V3

2. Simple Past Tense
Active Voice : Sandy met Ali yesterday
Pattern : S + V2 + O
Passive Voice : Ali was met by Sandy yesterday
Pattern : S + to be ( was/were) + V3

3. Present Continous Tense
Active Voice : I am eating a pizza
Pattern : S + To Be (Am, Is, Are) + V ing + O
Passive Voice : A pizza was eat by me
Pattern : S + to be (am, is, are) + being + V3

4. Past Continous Tense
Active Voice : She was cooking a cup of noodle
Pattern : S + To Be (Was/ Were) + V ing + O
Passive Voice : A cup of noodle was being cooked by her
Pattern : S + to be (was/were) + being + V3

5. Present Perfect Tense
Active Voice : Jane has helped Tina
Pattern : S + Have/Has + V3
Passive Voice : Tina has been helped by Jane
Pattern : S + have/has + been + V3

6. Past Perfect Tense
Active Voice : She had driven the car
Pattern : S + Had + V3
Passive Voice : The car had been driven by her
Pattern : S + had + been + V3

7. Modal Auxiliary
Passive Voice : The letter should have been sent last week
Pattern : MODAL + have been + VERB 3
